#AdultBalletLifeHacks

If you are just beginning you Dance Year, there are some Studio Life Hacks that might come in handy:

  1. Unless there is a strict dress code, wear what you feel comfortable moving in, but DO remember to keep your hair pulled back from your face, to keep dangly jewelry off your body (that's for your safety) and to not wear highly perfumed lotions or sprays (you never know who might be allergic to what in class);

  2. Make sure to chat with your teacher before class begins about any injuries or body limitations you might have. Communication clears up all kinds of misconceptions!;

  3. Students who have taken class in the studio for a while may have preferred places to stand at barre and in center. That's normal - just do a quick ask to see if you are standing in anyone's space. Most people are super generous and accomodating and won't care where you stand - but there's always one or two outliers on this one;

  4. If you are lucky enough to have an accompianist, make sure to introduce yourself to that person and say "Thank You" to them after class too!; and

  5. If there is something you don't understand during class, but didn't feel comfortable asking during class, ask your teacher or a peer after class. Try not to leave class confused! It will only compound later.

Hope these help out, Dancers! Have a wonderful year!
